The Maine Coast.
The Maine Coast.
Quietly. Effortlessly.
Route 1. Lobster rolls. Camden harbor at 6pm. Acadia at first light. The Maine coast was built for the kind of slow driving a Tesla excels at — silent cabin, premium audio, total range confidence.
Three days, four hundred miles.
From our Stamford base, you're 4.5 hours to Portland and 7 hours to Bar Harbor. The Tesla makes it easy: I-95 has Superchargers every 90 miles or so, and Maine has been quietly building out one of the best charging networks on the East Coast. We've done this trip a dozen times and never been stranded — or even stressed.
Three Maine-coast itineraries:
- Weekend (3 days): Westport → Kennebunkport (3.5h) → Portland (1h) → home Sunday
- Long weekend (4 days): Add Camden + Rockland, eat at Primo, sleep at the Whitehall
- The Acadia trip (5+ days): Drive all the way up, stay in Bar Harbor, sunrise on Cadillac Mountain
Key Supercharger stops:
- Sturbridge, MA — first stop, 95 mins from Stamford
- Auburn, MA — backup option on Mass Pike
- Kittery, ME — first one over the border, plenty of food + outlets
- Augusta, ME — last big stop before Acadia
- Trenton/Ellsworth, ME — closest to Acadia entrance
